Position: Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead - Java
Job Description:
- Technical Lead is responsible for working with the Project Manager (PM) and Business Analyst (BA) to understand the customer's business requirements, work with the rest of the team to document these requirements, come up with the application architecture, lead the effort to prepare design documents and provide necessary feedback to the PM on key milestones that will allow the PM to prepare the overall project plan.
- During the construction phase, Tech Lead is responsible for preparing a development plan, divide the tasks among the development team members, regularly monitor the progress on these tasks to meet construction end date. Depending on the size and scope of the project, Tech Lead may take on hands-on responsibilities for development tasks. These tasks involve:
- setting up build plan for the application in various environment,
- development of new modules and customization of existing modules,
- extension of database schema and configuration of platform software such as WebLogic, Oracle and iPlanet.
- During the QA and UAT phase, Tech Lead is responsible for working with the PM and the rest of the team to come up with a bug-fix plan to meet QA and UAT dates and exit criteria
- During the Production deployment phase, tech lead is responsible for preparing a run book and then working with Sys Admin to get the application deployed in Production environment
- Post-Production, Tech Lead is expected to complete all the post-production formalities necessary to successfully hand-over the application to Customer Service and Managed Services group
Skills and experience:
- Proven Technical Leadership experience with significant level of customer interactions
- 4-8 years IT experience (Java Swing)
- 2-6 years experience in Object Oriented technologies
- Expert level knowledge and hands-on experience in Java,Swing, JDBC, Servlets, JSP, EJB, WebLogic, XML, XSLT, SOAP, Oracle, UNIX
- Very good command over SQL and experience in writing extensive stored procedures
- JavaScript, HTML
- Prior experience with
- IDEs such as Eclipse, JDeveloper, JBuilder or Visual Studio
- Messaging software such as MQ-Series or TIBCO
- UML
- Ability to pickup new technologies, solve complex technical problems and multitask between different projects
- Strong Architectural and Software life cycle experience
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- BS or equivalent degree in Computer Science or equivalent field
- Excellent communication skills
